Expectations:

Meet regularly with each client developing and implementing a successful college preparation and application program (frequency depending on grade level of student).

ANC consultants collaborate in a team setting with other support staff for each student. Consultants must be prepared to communicate with tutors and other ANC staff to ensure consistent progress for each student.

ANC consultants are expected to maintain detailed logs of each student’s hours and progress and submit monthly reports to the Educational Coordinator.

Administer academic and career interest profiles, evaluate and share results with the client and their family.

Research colleges and their academic programs that are consistent with the educational abilities, values, and goals of your individual clients.

Guide students through goal setting procedures and ensure that they are equipped with the skills and tools to realistically meet those goals.

Monitor student performance and assist with academic course selection for maximum impact for college readiness.

Coordinate with the student to develop a consistent record of volunteer/community service activities that are consistent with their academic and career interests.

Assist students in the process of drafting and revising personal statements and other required application essays.

Travel may be required to ANC offices, public libraries, and students’ schools or be comfortable using video conferencing to conduct consulting sessions.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or Ph.D. Persons with direct experience with college admissions are strongly valued.
